When you drive a Subaru SUV or car, you'll be supported by an advanced array of standard and available safety technologies. From preventing crashes to keeping you connected during emergencies, Subaru is dedicated to improving your peace of mind wherever you go.
EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology
EyeSight Driver Assist Technology sits at the heart of Subaru's commitment to safety - and studies show it can reduce rear-end crashes with injuries by up to 85%.[1]Â Enabled by dual cameras, this system comes standard on every Subaru equipped with a continuously variable or automatic transmission. Here are the primary features it gives you:
- Pre-Collision Braking:Â This feature alerts you and automatically hits the brakes if you're in danger of a frontal collision.
- Pre-Collision Throttle Management:Â If a crash is imminent, this feature reduces engine power to lower the collision's force and severity.
- Lane Keep Assist/Lane Departure and Sway Warning:Â With this feature, you'll receive alerts and steering-wheel nudges if your Subaru drifts from its lane.
- Adaptive Cruise Control:Â This feature automatically adjusts your speed so you can maintain a safe following distance.
- Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering (select models):Â Building on regular Adaptive Cruise Control, this system provides extra controls while helping to center your vehicle in its lane.
DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System
The DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System is one of Subaru's most advanced safety features. Available on select 2022 Crosstrek, Forester, Outback, and Legacy trims, this technology uses a dashboard camera to monitor your eye and head motions as you drive. If it detects that you're distracted or drowsy, it will issue a warning and then gradually slow your Subaru and bring it to a stop.
Other Subaru Safety Technologies
Depending on the model and trim you select, your Subaru can be equipped with a wide range of additional safety and driver-assistance technologies. Here are some of the highlights:
- Rear Vision Camera:Â This feature comes standard on every Subaru vehicle, giving you a clear view of what's behind you as you reverse your vehicle.
- 180-Degree Front-View Monitor:Â This camera systems gives you a clearer, more comprehensive front-facing view, especially when visibility is obstructed.
- High Beam Assist:Â Provided standard on most Subaru models, this feature automatically turns on your brights when there's no traffic oncoming or in front of you. It can also switch back to regular beams to keep from blinding other drivers.
- Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert:Â Available on select models and trims, this system uses cameras and sensors to help you maneuver your Subaru more safely. It warns you of vehicles in your blind spots, helps you change lanes with less stress, and alerts you to vehicles approaching from either side as you back up.
- Reverse Automatic Braking:Â This available feature detects danger from behind and automatically hits the brakes to keep you from reversing into a collision.
- Passive Safety Features:Â All Subaru vehicles are equipped with front and side air bags, LATCH child safety seat connectors, anti-lock brakes, a tire pressure monitoring system, and many other passive safety features to keep you and your loved ones protected.
