2019 Subaru Outback

Differences Between the 2019 Subaru Outback and the Ford Edge

You might be wondering if you should choose the already released 2019 Subaru Outback or if you should wait for the 2019 Ford Edge to come out, which is why our team at Gallatin Subaru is here to help. We want to show you what these models can offer and how they might be right for your needs, allowing you to make the best decision about your next vehicle.

This is a major factor for many people, and rightfully so as vehicles are one of the biggest investments that you will make. While the exact prices of the 2019 Ford Edge aren't available yet, the 2018 Edge was starting higher than the 2019 Outback.

You can actually upgrade to the second trim level of the Outback for the same price that it is for the 2018 Ford Edge base model.

There is a lot of excitement around the 2019 Ford Edge ST because it is a performance-tuned model, but it will cost you upwards of $40,000.

The Edge ST replaces the Sport, which is already priced just over $40,000, and the 2019 version offers a decent amount more, probably pushing it up another few-thousand dollars whereas the 2019 Outback's top trim level stays under $40,000.

Which Model is Ready for Anything?

The Subaru Outback comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, making sure you are ready to take on any snow, rain, or gravel that is ahead of you, but the Ford Edge comes standard as a Front-Wheel Drive vehicle, making you drive the price up even further to match the abilities of the 2019 Outback.

While the numbers aren't released for the 2019 Edge, it uses the same engine as the 2018 Edge, so we can figure that the fuel efficiency will be similar.

The 2018 Edge only offers up to 29 MPG highway and 21 MPG city versus the 32 MPG highway and 25 MPG city of the Outback. If you choose All-Wheel Drive on the Edge, it further reduces the efficiency.

What You Get Inside

You might be a little thrown when you see the interior of the 2019 Ford Edge as there is no shifter stick.

This model moves away from the conventional design, instead offering a dial to select the gear that you want. While this might seem innovative to some drivers, it might seem unnecessary to many.

The 2019 Subaru Outback comes standard with an ordinary shifter, keeping you comfortable from the start. While Ford might seem at the cutting-edge of technology, they currently don't offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto as standard on the SYNC® system, only the SYNC® 3 upgrade is compatible.

While we don't know if it will be standard on the 2019 Ford Edge, other 2019 Ford models don't offer it as standard yet, and the 2018 Ford Edge didn't either, which leads us to believe that the 2019 Ford Edge won't either, but the 2019 Subaru Forester comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to make sure you can easily stay connected to your apps and media.
