Rough-and-ready performance

The 2023 Outback is right at home in all-terrain situations. All models boast standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive with X-MODE® technology and Hill Descent Control, ensuring responsive performance and confident grip even when the weather turns foul. The four-wheel raised independent suspension provides 8.7 inches of ground clearance - and 9.5 inches on the Wilderness trim. Wilderness also comes with enhanced dual-function X-MODE® for driving in deep snow, mud, and sand.

Most Outback models come equipped with a 2.5-liter engine that puts out 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. Onyx Edition XT, Wilderness, and Limited XT models carry a 2.4-liter turbo, which generates 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque to go with up to 3,500 pounds of towing capacity.

A flexible, spacious cabin

There's plenty of versatile space inside the 2023 Outback. The SUV's two rows have room for up to five passengers. Even adults can ride comfortably in back thanks to nearly 40 inches of rear legroom. The second row also folds flat, providing more than 75 cubic feet of cargo space. To help you harness all that space effectively, the Outback comes standard with tie-down hooks, an underfloor storage compartment, and other handy features.

The Outback offers plenty of amenities to make travel more pleasant. Most trim levels come with a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Other options include a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, push-button start, and a power tilt/sliding glass moonroof. Onyx Edition and Wilderness models add StarTex® water-repellent upholstery, while Limited and Touring models are trimmed in leather.

EyeSight® safety

The Outback's standard EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology suite boasts new system enhancements for 2023, allowing features like Pre-Collision Braking, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, Automatic Emergency Steering, and Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering to operate more effectively. You can also upgrade the Outback with advanced driver-assistance technologies like the DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System, a 180-Degree Front-View Monitor, and Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. For an extra degree of protection, Premium and above trims provide connected STARLINK® Safety and Security features like SOS Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, and Remote Lock/Unlock.
